Press Statement By The Honourable Commissioner Of Health CRS On The 2024 World Health Day
1) The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded on the 7th of April, 1948, three years after the end of the 2nd World War. The date was set aside to mark the WORLD HEALTH DAY
2) The date is being used globally to create awareness on global health issues, and to encourage people to live healthy lives.
3) Theme for 2024 World Health Day is MY HEALTH MY RIGHT. Around the world. the right to health of millions of people is increasingly under thecat. Half of the global population not fully covered by essential health services us at 2021. This is the main reason for the theme of this year's World Health Day.
4)The right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good matrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions and freedom from discrimination.
5) Access to good quality bealth should not be seen as a privilege but one's right
6) In Cross River State, the leadership of het Excellency is making efforts to make sure that all LGAs have functional hospitals, as evidenced by the establishment of General Hospital Ikom. In addition, Cottage Hospital Oban and a few other hospitals are being renovated to meet the health needs of citizens of the state
7) Equally Primary Health Centers in the State are given a face lift in order to provide adequate and accessible health services in the state.
