EFCC Arraigns Cubana Chief Priest Over Abuse of Naira

The Economic and Financial Crimes in Commission (EFCC) has is set to arraign Paschal Chibuike Popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest on Wednesday over allegations of naira abuse.
This is coming a few days after Bobrisky was arraigned and hailed for six months.
The case was initiated on April 4 by the EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), alongside seven other legal representatives for the commission’s chairman.
The charges against Cubana Chief Priest include tampering with funds in the denomination of N500 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The allegations stem from incidents at social events where he sprayed Naira notes for an extended duration, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
This development follows closely after the EFCC's recent arrest and arraignment of controversial personality Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, for similar offenses related to naira abuse.
Bobrisky was apprehended on the night of Wednesday, April 3, in Lagos State.
Subsequently, the Federal High Court in Lagos State sentenced Bobrisky to six months' imprisonment without the option of a fine on Friday, April 12.
The presiding judge, Abimbola Awogboro, emphasized that the judgment aims to deter others from engaging in such acts of naira abuse.
Additionally, there have been reports circulating on social media platforms such as X, Instagram, and TikTok, showcasing various public figures, including officials, monarchs, and celebrities, engaging in similar practices of spraying Naira notes in public settings.
