Police Apprehends Ambazonian Separatists in C'River

Cross River Police Command has arrested a 24-yr- old Cameroonian,Tito Calms.
Calms was on Friday paraded alongside two Nigerians. Clams was part of the Ambazonian separatists that have been terrorizing the border communities between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Calmas, who was apprehended with Isaac Okon, 18 and Cynthian Bill, 23, were caught with explosives and several pairs of booths at Akamkpa local government area of Cross River.
The state's Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Opara, said the items were recovered on the ceiling of the room where they were caught.
The command also paraded for other suspects arrested for various crime ranging from cultism, armed robbery and vandalisation.
Meanwhile, Opara, who just assumed duty as the 45th Commissioner of Police in the state, has warned the rank and file of the command against operating outside the ambit of the law.
Opara, who solicited for media support to rid the state of crime and criminality, said command under his watch will frown at incivility.
According to him, "for the fact that we are on uniform doesn't make us to be above the law, we must show respect for the rule of law.
"I met a very organised police architecture in the state and major aspect of my work here is to ensure proper supervision of officers to achieve my mandate of securing the state."
Opara, who succeeds Gyogon Grimah who has been redeployed to Kaduna state, stated rhat the Command's commitment to upholding law and order in Cross River.
Opara was initially appointed to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and then Delta state before his recent redeployment to Cross River.
Before his posting to Cross River, the CP had served as a Deputy Force secretary, Police Force Headquarters, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Department of Finance and Administration, Imo state
Command.
He also served as DCP, Legal Studies, Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, state, Area Commander Aba, Abia State Command and Area Commander, Uyo, Akwa lbom State.
Opara is among the four CPs redeployed to various Commands across the country by the Police Service Commission.
Opara's predecessor, Grimah, assumed duty as the 44th Cross River CP in June 2023.
