NGO To Develop Tourists Centre, Befitting Palace in Cross River Community

Nongovernmental Organization, (NGO) Black Diamond Beauty Restoration Foundation, has mapped out plans to develop a tourist’s centre and a befitting traditional palace and health center in Abia Community, Etung local government area of Cross River state.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Foundation, Rev. Black Diamond Agbor, disclosed this in Calabar, after consultations with the Elders-in-Council and stakeholders of Abia community.
The Chief Executive, who commended the community for donating a four-hectare parcel of land to the foundation, revealed that the project would commence before the end of the year and would gulp over a billion Naira.
He said on completion of the tourists centre, the community would be a preferred destination for tourists and fun seekers, which he said would also impact on the local economy and engender development to the community bounded by the Republic of Cameroon.
"We are constructing a traditional palace that will also serve as a tourist attraction to the area within the same space, there will be very many other structures like a cultural center, a health center, and a number of facilities that would attract development to the community.
"We are hoping to kick-off before the end of the year. We are looking at something close to one billion. And we have collaborators, so we do not sit down and fold our hands," he said.
Earlier, in a meeting with the leaders of Abia Community, the Town Council Chairman, Matthew Agbor, who spoke on behalf of the community lamented the dearth of social amenities in the Community, saying the Community suffers neglect from both the state and federal governments.
He expressed happiness at the assurance by the foundation, stressing that with the tourist centre, development would definitely come to the community.
He decried lack of infrastructures in the community hike portable drinking water, access road network, and telephone network due to absence of telecommunication mast.
According to him, several attempts have been made by various individuals to attract telecommunication companies to the area to no avail.
