Ikot Eka Edem Presents New Village Head

The Ikot Eka Edem village in Calabar Municipality has unveiled Chief Ene Cobham as the new village head designate arising from the vacuum created by the demise of the late village head, Rev Effio-Ita Effiom.
Presenting the village head designate to the clan head of Kasuk, the Etubom and President, Archibong Ekpo Royal House, Etubom Micah Archibong said Chief Ene Cobham was nominated by the age-long selection process which stipulates rotation amongst the two royal houses making up Ikot Eka Edem namely Abasi Archibong and Edem Archibong to promote fairness, equity, unity, and inclusivity.
He described Chief Cobham as a front-line community leader and mobilizer who has demonstrated burning passion and peculiar interest for the welfare of the community.
He expressed optimism that the new village head would explore his wealth of experience in harnessing the enormous human and capital resources of the community to drive socio-economic development for communal benefits and peaceful coexistence.
Speaking, the clan head of Kasuk 1, Ntoe Patrick Agbor applauded stakeholders in the community for the peaceful selection process culminating in the nomination of the new village head.
Ntoe Agbor who formally inducted the new village head into the Kasuk 1 Qua Clan cabinet said his cabinet is always disposed to supporting genuine efforts geared toward enhancing peace and harmony to guarantee a conducive environment for the smooth implementation of government developmental programs.
He said the new village head designate would be presented to the Calabar Municipal Traditional Rulers Council en route to the State Council of Chief for necessary documentation and official recognition.
The delegation to the Ntoe Place included prominent sons and daughters including Chief Princess Ukpa Duke, Chief Emmanuel Archibong, Eniang Offiong, and David Cobham among others.
