BREAKING: Commotion in UCTH Over Death Of Patient, Arrest of 3 Nurses

Protest rocked the city of Calabar as Nurses at University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) at the early hours of today barricaded the entrance of the health institution demanding the release of three of their colleagues arrested by security operatives.

Operatives of the  State Police Investigation Department (SCID) of Cross River State police Command Diamond Hill, Calabar, had stormed the UCTH and took away three staff who are allegedly accused of complicity on the death of a patient at the hospital.

THE BEAGLE NEWS investigations revealed that yesterday a good Samaritan brought a patient who had an accident to the hospital and afer a few hours they patient died in their care.

An inside source told THE BEAGLE NEWS that the nurses complained that there were no syringes at the time the patient was brought in to enable them to carry out some  medical treatment.

While they were waiting for the syringe, the patient gave up the ghost.

However, on getting wind of the death of the patient, the relations came to the hospital and discovered that the SIM card on the deceased phone has been removed.

They demanded some explanations  from the nurses and they relations of the deceased didn't get useful information and suspected foul play.

From there, the deceased family went to the Police and made a report, leading to police invading the hospital and took away all the three nurses on duty when the incident happened for further interrogation.

A source said the management tried to intervene to secure the nurses' release yesterday, but Police insisted on carrying out a thorough investigations before releasing the affected person.

The nurses then mobilised and barricaded the entrance of the hospital on Tuesday morning, refusing  to attend to any patient untill their colleagues are released.
