Dominic Kidzu Defects To APC As Prof. Ani, Efa, Others Set To Join Ruling Party in Cross River

By Judex Okoro

The gale of defection in Cross River state has continued unabated as Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to former Governor Liyel Imoke, Mr. Dominic Kidzu, officially dumps the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is coming barely two weeks after Mike Usibe from Yala local government area and some PDP stalwarts in Biase defected to APC.

Kidzu, a writer, member of Nigerian Guild of Editors and former general manager of Cross River Newspaper Corporation, defected at his Bunyia/Okubuchi ward in Boki local government area at the weekend.

Kidzu who has been the political leader of Bunyia/Okubuchi ward for over 18 years in a chat on why he left said, : "I left because elections are over and the winner has emerged in the person of His Excellency Sen. Bassey Otu, who has called all Cross Riverians to join him in building a new state.

"I left APC then because of my disagreements with former Governor Ben Ayade in which I didn't approve of his methods. Ayade is gone, and now elections are over, it's time to join hands and build the state."

Similarly, THE BEAGLE NEWS can report authouritatively that the like of Prof. Offiong Ani Offiong, a renowned academic, and former member of House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Efa Esua, the immediate past member representing Calabar Municipality at the House of Assembly, and their hundreds of supporters have concluded arrangements to dump PDP for APC.

The duo are political heavy weights at Calabar Municipality who have contributed to the political engineering and grassroots development.

They and their followers are said to have tendered their resignation letters at their various wards just as they have finished consultations with some top government functionaries and waiting to get the nod from the APC leadership on the official defection date.

An impeccable source disclosed that the PDP are going to face massive defections in a couple of days especially in the southern senatorial district, accusing the party leadership of insensitivity to their plight since after the election.

A party member from Calabar South, who simply gave his name as Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, said: 'We are just like sheep without shepherd. Nobody has called us for any meeting at least to brief us on the next line of action.

"And that is not how to run a party even as we have lost elections. No direction. So, they should expect more defections in a few days ahead."
