The three-day event convenes ICT Commissioners and Heads of ICT Agencies from across Nigeria to deliberate on strategies for digital transformation and national development.

The conference, themed “Innovation for a Sustainable Digital Future: Accelerating Growth, Inclusion and Global Competitiveness,” provides a strategic platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners to exchange ideas, strengthen intergovernmental collaboration, and harmonize strategies for a digitally prosperous Nigeria.

The opening ceremony was graced by His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, alongside other notable dignitaries including Dr. Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy; Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of NITDA; Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote, DG/CEO NIMC; and Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, MD NIGCOMSAT. Captains of industry, diplomatic representatives, and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors of Nigeria’s digital economy also attended, making the event a truly high-level convergence of expertise and innovation.

At the Roundtable, Dr. Beshel reaffirmed Cross River State’s commitment to advancing digital innovation and inclusive technology. “Our mission is to build a digital Cross River that is globally competitive, inclusive, and future-ready. We are determined to translate innovation into tangible development for our people,” he stated.

He further emphasized the importance of creating an ecosystem that empowers startups, encourages youth participation, and leverages technology to solve societal challenges.

Prof. Beshel also highlighted ongoing initiatives in Cross River State, noting that the government has been investing strategically in infrastructure, digital skills development, and public-private partnerships to drive a sustainable digital economy. He urged other states to embrace similar inclusive approaches to ensure that the benefits of technology reach every Nigerian citizen.
