Prof Edet,  Bassey Ewa, Mbora, others Join Senatorial , Reps Race  in Cross River

The race for Senatorial and House of Representatives election in Cross River is gathering momentum as Prof. Joe Edet, Rt Hon. Bassey Ewa and Hon Etta Mbora have joined declared their interest to contest in various political parties.

While Edet has declared interest to contest for Cross River State South senatorial district under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bassey Ewa is said to have undergone screening to contest for Cross River State Central senatorial district  in National Democratic Congress (NDC) just as immediate past Rep for Odukpani/Calabar Municipality, Etta Mbora, is equally contesting to return to Lower Legislative  Chamber in 2027. 

THE BEAGLE NEWS has it on good authority that about five other aspirants are jostling for Odukpani/Calabar Municipality seat. Bassey Ewa is said to have a last minute defection to ADC because the internal crisis in ADC.

Formerly declaring interest in ADC, Prof Joe Edet,  said: "My declaration is made with a deep sense of responsibility, humility, and resilience. Having previously offered myself for this position and not succeeded, I have taken time to reflect, learn, and grow from that experience. That journey has strengthened my resolve, broadened my understanding of the needs of our people, and better prepared me to serve with greater effectiveness.

"I remain committed to the ideals of transparent governance, inclusive representation, and sustainable development. The challenges facing our district require not only passion but experience, perseverance, and a renewed strategy—qualities I now bring with even greater clarity and determination.

"Our people deserve consistent advocacy, effective legislation, and leadership that listens, learns, and delivers. I am fully prepared to work collaboratively with party leaders, stakeholders, and constituents to build a stronger, more prosperous Southern Senatorial District.

"I humbly seek the continued support, trust, and encouragement of party members and the good people of our district as I once again present myself for service."
