C'River Police to Conduct Shooting Range Exercise in Akpabuyo

‎The Cross River State Police Command has announced a routine shooting range exercise scheduled for Friday, June 5, 2026, at Asabanka, Anyanganse Community in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

‎According to a press release issued by the Command, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to retrain personnel on proper weapon handling, conduct inspections of service arms, and assess other operational equipment in line with established professional policing standards and best practices.

‎The Command urged members of the public not to panic upon hearing gunfire or noticing an increased police presence in the area, noting that officers will be fully engaged in controlled drills within the designated range.

‎Residents, including farmers, hunters, and commuters, were also strongly advised to steer clear of the shooting range and its surrounding environment throughout the duration of the exercise to avoid accidental exposure to stray bullets and possible psychological distress caused by the sound of gunshots.

‎Reassuring the public, the Command stated that the exercise is strictly routine and safety-guided, adding that it remains committed to the protection of lives and property across the state.
