Lions FC Emerges Winner of Sen. Eteng Williams 2024 Yakurr Unity Football Tournament

The Lions football club of idomi community in Yakurr local government area has emerged winners of Sen. Eteng Jones William 2024 Yakurr Unity football competition.
The Lions defeated the Warriors of Mkpani Football club by 2 goals to 1 to lift the trophy.
Presenting the trouphy to the winners, Lion football club of Idomi, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Francis Ekpenyong, commended the distinguished Senator Eteng Jones Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District and chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream in the Red Chambers, for proactive and effective representation at the National Assembly specially his lofty programmes.
He said his quality representation and programmes such as free medical care, scholarships, sponsoring of football competitions across the state has touched the lives of poor people.
According to him, the 2024 Yakurr Unity football cup competition has brought unity, peace and talen haunt to the area.
Ekpenyong, who is also the State Commissioner for lands, commended the organisers of the tournament for being unbiased throughout the competition and charged the losers not to be discouraged to participate in next edition.
In his remarks, the convener of the tournament High Chief Dr. Nelson Obono Ofem, commended the sponsor of the competition, distinguished Sen. Eteng Williams, for his philanthropic gesture since assumption of office and appealed for the sustainability of the competition and other humanitarian services.
The convener of the 2024 Football Competition also lauded the participatory communities and the local organising committee for being unbiased and maturity shown during and after the competition.
He enjoined other elected and appointees from the area to emulate the philanthropic gestures of the distinguished Senator.
The high point of the competition is the book launch written by High Chief Dr. Nelson Ofem on the "Relevance of Nigeria Youth in Nation Building" in honour of D Sen. Eteng Williams, the occasion was witnessed by political class, the youths, traditional rulers, the clergy among others.
