Former NURTW Chairman, Godwin Wonu Ogor, Passes Away at 76

Former chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Godwin Wonu Ogor, has given up the ghost.

Ogor, popularly known as Goddy Brass, has passed away at the age of 76. 

According to the statement released from his in-law and  the Chief Whip of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Ekpang Bisong, Ogor died peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

Until his passing, the late Ogor was widely respected was an accomplished statesman, businessman, and committed community leader.

 He was known for his integrity and humility, having served in multiple capacities including Councilor in the then Ogoga Province, Commissioner of Transport under Governor Ben Ayade, and Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Yala Chapter.

In 2016, Ogor was appointed a Board member in the Salary and Payroll Department under the administration of former Governor Ben Ayade.

He was a devout Christian and a man of strong principles and described his family and community remembers as a pillar of strength and a dedicated servant of the people.

Funeral rites are scheduled to hold on June 12 and 13, 2025 at Ore-Igegu in the Yala local government area of Cross River state.
