Gwogwo Ngwo Crooner Mike Ejeagha Is Dead

Highlife music icon Mike Ejeagha has passed away at the age of 95.
As confirmed by his eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, the music icon died on Friday June 6 around 8 p.m at the 32 Garrison Hospital, Enugu after a prolonged illness.
Born on April 4, 1930, Mike Ejeagha launched his music career in the mid-20th century and played a significant role in shaping the evolution of music in the Igbo language.
He was known for incorporating proverbs into his music, which earned him widespread recognition with the recent being the popular “Gwogwo ngwo” released in 1983 and recently used by comedian Brain Jotter in a viral dance challenge.
He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
