EBONYI State: Lawmaker Empowers Constituents With Scholarship Award, Others

Lawmaker, representing Ohaozara East Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Igu Chikezie Nwankwo, has empowered constituents with scholarship award and other educational materials.

The award was presented to over twenty beneficiaries the lawmaker's, foundation, Iguson Educational Foundation.

Each of the beneficiaries received hundred thousand naira each and other educational materials to enhance their learning process.

Nwankwo said the Foundation has been silent in the awards since 1998 and that he decided to make it public in 2025.

He described Ohaozara East as the cradle of education in South Eastern region having produced the first Education Minister Onyibe Aja Nwachuku.

He maintained that the Foundation was in support of the educational programmes of  Governor Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, who has given out scholarship to Ebonyi students to study overseas.

Commending the lawmaker,  Ebonyi state Governor, Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, represented by the member representing Izzi West Constituency Hon Chief Abiri Godwin Abiri, described Nwankwo as a human being developer whose works within the state shall be remembered for a long time.

The Governor further implored the foundation to monitor the beneficiaries on how to make the best use of the supports, urging the beneficiaries to always avoid social vices and make the best use of any opportunity that comes thier way.

Equally speaking, the Chairman of the event, Dr Uche Iburu, said that the event was first of its kind in Ohaozara East and lauded the lawmaker for his willingness to upgrade the educational standard of the constituents.

In his speech, the chairman of the foundation, Dr Monday Okereke Ugwu, commended the foundation Committee for passing through all the hurdles of the beneficiaries selection through wild consultations, to bring brilliant indigent students to utilize the funds.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Nnachi Samuel Ikechukwu of AE–FUNAI, said the beneficiaries will make the best use of the opportunity and thanked the facilitator for the largesse and prayed God for more guidance.
