Wike Dares PDP, Says Leadership Has No Authority To Expel Him

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reportedly openly challenged the PDP leadership to suspend or take disciplinary action against him, claiming that no party chieftain has the authority to expel him from the party, according to Channels.

Wike made this declaration during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today where he addressed speculation regarding his political stance and relationship with the PDP leadership.

The former Governor of Rivers State clarified that before accepting his current ministerial appointment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he had informed the PDP leadership of his decision.

He emphasised that despite serving in an APC-led government, he remains a committed PDP chieftain.

“I have not seen any PDP leader who can suspend or expel me from the party,” Wike stated firmly, adding that he has always been transparent about his political choices.

Wike further defended his decision to work with President Tinubu’s administration, explaining that his primary focus is ensuring good governance rather than party affiliations. He reiterated his commitment to supporting the President in achieving his developmental agenda for Nigeria.

“I want to support Asiwaju (Tinubu) to finish well,” Wike said, making it clear that his allegiance to national progress outweighs partisan interests.

His remarks come amid growing tensions within the PDP, where some members have criticised his involvement in an APC-led government.

However, Wike remains defiant, insisting that his influence within the party remains intact and that he will continue to play an active role in Nigerian politics.
