Delvan Salutes Tinubu, Otu As Duo Marks 100 Days In Office

Messages of goodwill and felicitations from Nigerians from all walks of life and corporate entities have continued to trail President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River as the duo marked their first 100 days in office since assuming office on May 29.

Among the corporate bodies celebrating the 100-day landmark with the pair is the national executive of the Delivery Vehicles Owners and Drivers Association of Nigeria, Delvan.

In a goodwill message jointly endorsed by the President and Secretary General of Delvan, Comrade Sabbastine Raphael and Alhaji Comrade Abubakar Nasiru respectively, the Association applauded the President for concrete steps outlined to rejig the economy, creating jobs, and tackling the menace of insecurity which they observed as hugely responsible for the poverty rate across the country.

According to Delvan; The people-first mantra of Senator Bassey Otu geared towards alleviating the excruciating hardship triggered by the fuel subsidy removal demonstrates in clear terms, the humane posture of the present administration in Cross River".

"The timely composition of the state's executive council is indicative of a people-oriented administration poised to deliver on its promises while breaking new grounds to reposition the state on the path of sustainable economic development and prosperity".

"That apart, the relief measures announced by Governor Otu as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on the public and civil servants in the state portray a government with a human face and sympathy for the masses".

Delvan applauded the state government over the steps undertaken by the Internal Revenue Service, IRS, under the leadership of the Acting Chairman, Mr Edwin Okon to rib the state of multiple illegal checkpoints, noting that the drastic step will checkmate the outrageous extortions suffered by commercial and delivery truck drivers along the roads in Cross River.

The body appealed to Governor Bassey Otu to liaise effectively with the federal government to ensure the speedy execution of the ongoing Calabar Itu road construction as well as the completion of the Calabar Ikom Ogoja road rehabilitation project to ameliorate current hardship and loss of man-hours spent on the road due to its dilapidated state.

Delvan expressed its readiness to partner with the state Ministry of Transport and Marine Service in the running of proposed mass transit system announced by government to address high cost of public transportation arising from subsidy removal to ensure efficiency and accessiblity.
