CRSHA Raps up 2nd Legislative Year With 30 Bills, 83 Resolutions ... Vows Quality Representation

The Cross River state House of Assembly (CRSHA) has passed a total number of thirty bills into law made eighty-three Resolutions, confirmed nine appointments and undertook seven Capital projects in the last two years of its existence
The Speaker of the tenth Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem made the announcement while presenting the scorecard of the tenth Assembly during a Special plenary to mark the end of the second legislative year.
Some of the bills included the Cross River state security trust fund bill 2024, State Climate Change bill 2024, State University of Education and Entrepreneurship bill 2024, State Senior Citizens Centre law 2025 etc. passed eight-three (83) Resolutions which were fully complied with by the Executive arm, confirmed nine (9) nominations of appointments for Chairmen and boards, parastatals while it completed Capital Projects like the renovation of the Assembly administrative block, reconstruction of assembly quartets entrance gate parliamentary village, partial renovation of Speaker and Deputy Speaker's lodge State Housing to mention a few.
The Speaker also announced the reinstatement of the CRSHA membership at the Commonwealth Parliamentary. Association (CPA) after a part payment of its indebtedness explaining the new development will enable the house to partake in all Commonwealth conferences thereby providing an opportunity to deepen legislative knowledge and share experiences with other members of Commonwealth Countries.
Other achievements included, upward review of Staff allowances, employment of over one hundred staff, as well as the training of both Honourable members and staff within and outside the state.
On the way forward, the Speaker states that: " We have resolved more than ever before to intensify legislations, oversight functions and monitoring to ensure that all MDAs comply with our budgetary provisions, in line with the People's first Mantra of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu. I therefore solicit the continued cooperation of Honourable members and staff to sustain a viable House that is counted among the Comity of states where order and peace is a binding factor."

Hon Davis Ettah who represents Abi state Constituency, Hon. Mercy Akpama- Yakurr II her counterpart Hon. Cyril Omini -Yakurr I among other House members described the Speaker, Rt. Hon.Elvert Ayambem as amiable, responsible and gender sensitive whose immaculate leadership prowess has enabled the state Legislature to scale through challenges and still remain the most vibrant Assembly in the past three decades.
"Mr Speaker, we thank God for giving us a leader like you. We appreciate you for carrying us this far, though issues erupted were able to come together, become more stronger than before to work for the common good of the people", They echoed.
Some former Honourable members present at the Special plenary, Rt. Hon. Nelson Ofem- Yakurr 1, Rt. Hon Okon Ephraim- Calabar South, Rt.Hon. Mathew Olory- Akamkpa 1, his Akamkpa II counterpart Rt. Hon. Charles Ekpe and Rt. Hon. Ogana Lukpata- Yala I, commended the 10th Assembly for its satisfactory performance within two years acknowledging that its excellent record surpasses that of the seventh, eighth and ninth Assemblies in the state.
The Special session was witnessed by some members of the state Executive Council, Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, politicians among others.
