CRSG Will Stimulate School Health Programmes To Assist Universal Health Coverage - Dr. Ayuk

Cross River Government has revealed plans to strengthen the school health programme in the State to support the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk made the revelation, recently, when he visited the Medical Center of College of Education Akamkpa on a spot check.
Dr. Ayuk lamented the poor utilisation of services at the medical centre despite of its well-equiped status to deliver basic services for universal coverage.
"The facility must open its services to the immediate communities outside the college and integrate the Primary Healthcare Department of the local government if it must boost coverage and improve its internally generated revenue," the Commissioner directed the Medical Director who took him round the facility.
He said the government of Prince Otu will review the school health programme, align it with primary health care and supportive hospital services to be able to provide enduring services to schools and communities.
In his response, the Medical Director of the centre, Dr. Daniel Obo, who had earlier welcomed the Commissioner assured him that the school authority will work closely with the Ministry of Health to implement his foresighted directives, which he maintained, would impact tremendously on the nearby communities.
