The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu, has called on opposition to sheathe their Swords and join hands with the governor to build the state.

A statement from the group, Northern Cross River Front stated that "This is what the people of the state have been yearning for and their prayers brought you to office and nobody should attempt to stop Cross Riverians from enjoying moment of good governance."

The statement signed by the Chairman, Prof. Zana Akpagu and Chief Henry Onwe, Secretary, acknowledged that "the good works started by the governor as seen in the first 100 days in in office speaks volumes and heavens bear testament to the work he is set to do and as such no one should frustrate the plan of God for our dear state."

Prof Akpagu called on the governor, Senator Bassey Otu to focus on governance now that he has won at the election tribunal and observed that the victory is a confirmation and reaffirmation of the overwhelming mandate given by Cross Riverians.

His words: "Sir, we heartily congratulate you and your deputy on your overwhelming victory at the polls, your successful inauguration into office and the very impressive scorecard of their Excellencies first 100 days in office".

The statement described the 10-man group as "an assemblage of seasoned politicians with huge followership"  and noted that "the victory was a vindication of the rotation principles adopted to guarantee justice, equity, fairness and harmonious co-existence".

The group said the support and goodwill enjoyed by the governor was a show of the passionate love the people have for him.
