The Cross River State Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Calabar Unit Caretaker Committee, has warned one Peter Abang Okim to stop parading as chairmen, stating that Comrade Robert Esue Obi still remains the authentic chairman.
The Association maintains that Obi's position is backed by judgements and grassroots support of marketers, disclosing that State IPMAN AGM and election of officers would hold on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 and not on December 1, 2023.
In a statement made available to journalists and signed by Obi, he called on members of the public to disregard the news making the rounds that one Peter Abang Okim has been elected the new chairman of our revered Association, describing "Mr. Okim as an imposter and desperate for leadership."
He challenged Okim to produce the alleged legal (judgement) to back his frivolous claim of being the unit chairman and then execute the judgement against IPMAN and the office.
On the pending election, Obi said: "It should be on record that I have secured approval from the authentic National and zonal authorities of IPMAN to hold a Depot General meeting which includes election of unit Officers on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 to the knowledge of all sister bodies in the depot community and security agencies.
"This approval is in tandem with Articles VIII(C)(4) and X1 of the Estant IPMAN constitution of 1997, recognised by the Supreme Court of Nigeria."
He, therefore, called on IPMAN members to be law abiding and go about their duties without fear as the leadership remains committed to serving members and the public as well as partnering with state government on the area of developing the oil and gas sector.
