Bayelsa Gov, Diri, To Defect To APC Soon, Says Otu

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has expressed optimism that the political landscape of the South-South region will continue to evolve, hinting that Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, may soon join the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Otu, who made this statement while addressing journalists following the official reception of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, into the AP held in Uyo, described as a "great day" for political unity in the region.
Responding to a question about Governor Diri, who remains the sole PDP governor in the South-South, Governor Otu conveyed a tone of camaraderie and hope. "Governor Diri is my chairman in the South-South Governors’ Forum. I’m confident he won’t stand alone for long," Otu remarked.
The Cross River Governor further underscored the importance of unity in advancing regional development. He emphasized that political alignment across the zone would bolster collective efforts to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms.
“With both states now under the APC umbrella, along with our other sister states, we are better positioned to foster stability and progress,” he noted.
Governor Otu concluded by highlighting the inclusive nature of the APC and welcoming new members with open arms. He stressed that the party’s growth in the South-South signals a new chapter of cooperation aimed at sustainable development.
As political dynamics continue to shift in the region, many will watch closely to see if Otu’s prediction about Governor Diri materializes in the coming months.
