Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has called on the constituents to come out en mass to vote and defend their votes during the Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 local government elections.

Jarigbe stated this when he was welcomed by thousands of his constituents on arrival at Ogoja on Friday for the council elections scheduled for Saturday, urging the Peoples Democratic Party members in the state to defend their votes without engaging in violent acts during poll.

He said: "We know that Cross River North is PDP and PDP is Cross River North. If they should announce the real results, these men standing in front of me should be your chairmen in a few days. I Know they are very popular in the society and will surely be massively voted for.

"I advise PDP members against running to join the ruling party because of local government elections. The chairmen of local government that were here before, what do they have to show for their tenures. But if you turn right, you turn left, you must find one thing to show for voting for me.

"We shall defend our votes, but we will not beat up anybody, shed blood or destroy property. Our brothers and sisters are very precious to us.

"You must not die, you must not get injured. Stand in your poling unit, vote and defend your vote.

"The security men are not our enemies, they will be there to protect all of us, not to unleash terror,  what we want is a peaceful election tomorrow" Senator Jarigbe added.

It was heroic welcoming as notable leaders cutting across party lines and some party stakeholders including Rt. Hon. Peter Igbodor, Hon. Chief Rita Agbo Ayim, Dr. Francis Bullem, Barr. Joe Oloko, Mr. Ben Ishamali, Rt. Hon. Mom Olom, Barr. Alex Edim, Hon and Charles Eneji turned up to give him a red carpet reception.
