A'Ibom: Commotion In AKTC Park As Passengers Protest Shabby Treatment.
By Ndifereke BASSEY (UYO)
A melodrama ensued on Saturday morning at the Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) park located at Itam Industrial Layout Uyo when passengers protested the perennial shabby treatment from the transport firm.
Troubles started when Calabar- bound passengers were booked and asked to wait without any vehicle in sight.
Findings revealed that after waiting for over an hour without explanation, some of the passengers later approached the booking unit to explain their plight.
Speaking, one of the enraged passengers, Fred, said: "We came here early so we can move on time in view of our official engagement knowing fully well the deplorable condition of Calabar-Itu road.
"But AKTC has scuttled our plan. The inhuman treatment of passengers is alarming. No information,no apologies. They don't give a damn to our predicament.
Also narrating his ordeals,
Foster Johnson, said: "We had to storm the customer care unit after a lady at the booking unit who the fares said she was not aware that we are stuck at the park and referred us to the Customer unit where we were told that the manager was not on seat.
'After a verbal face off, a coaster bus was arranged apparent from a mechanic workshop because the bus got here here with a mechanic had to spend another one hour to fix the car before we finally left almost three hours after booking. It is terrible"
Attempts by our roving reporter, who was at the park to get the reaction of AKTC officials, proved abortive as staff of company drapped in their customized orange Tee-shirts declined comments but were rather exchanging in verbal attacks on the passengers for disturbing their peace.
