PRESS STATEMENT: CROSS RIVER: NYSC COORDINATOR COMMENDS OGOJA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S INTERVENTION
The Cross River State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Mrs. Oyenuga, has commended the chairman of Ogoja local government council, Hon. Christopher Agbeh for his unwavering responsiveness to the needs of the service.
She emphasised that the Corps deeply appreciates the chairman’s relationship with the scheme.
Mrs. Oyenuga made this statement during her visit to Ogoja local government area for the passing out parade of Corps members who served in the Northern Senatorial Zone of Cross River State.
She explained that the parade is a routine exercise designed to instill a sense of citizenship among the people and ensure the safety of the outgoing Corps members.
She encouraged the Corps members to use the skills and experiences they gained during their service year to positively impact the world, urging them not to rely solely on white-collar jobs, but to engage in skills acquired through the scheme.
The Chairman of Ogoja local government council, Hon. Christopher Agbeh, who was represented by the leader of the Ogoja Legislative Council, Hon. (Dr.) Elizabeth Mbim, expressed satisfaction with the initiative of the State Coordinator.
He was pleased that Ogoja was chosen to host Corps members serving in the Zone, and he assured continued support for the scheme.
Hon. Mbim also appealed for more Corps members to be posted to Ogoja due to a shortage of manpower in the area.
She praised the State Coordinator for responding to the call for more medical doctors and allied services in the region.
Hon. Mbim encouraged the outgoing Corps
members to view their one-year service experience as a stepping stone toward maturity and self-reliance, urging them to share the potentials of the area with the world.
She also expressed gratitude for the safe completion of the service year, with no fatalities among the Corps members.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the outgoing Corps members, Mr. Kennedy Onyeocha expressed gratitude to God for a successful service year. He also thanked the government for the opportunity to serve the nation and appreciated the leadership of NYSC for their support and warmth throughout their service.
