CRHA Poised To Revitalize College Of Education, Akamkpa

The Cross River State House of Assembly has stated it's commitment to revitalize the College of Education, Akamkpa.
The Chairman of the Committee on Education and Member representing Akpabuyo State Constituency, Hon Bassey Bassey gave assurance when he led members of the committee on an oversight visit to the College recently
Hon Bassey noted that the visit, which is part of the committee's statutory responsibility, was to ensure checks and balances as well as due process in the running of the college.
Bassey noted that, the visit was also to find out the constraints hampering the smooth running of the institution with a view to fashion a way forward in achieving quality education in the state.
The lawmaker requested that the committee be furnished with relevant documents on the projects and staff strength, and also called on the contractors to return to site and complete the ongoing projects in the College.
Members of the Committee who spoke during the visit include ,Hon. Better Obi (Boki 1 State Constituency) Hon. Bassey Edet ( Bakassi State Constituency, ) and Hon. Abang Neji (Ikom 1 State Constituency) .
In their respective comments members said essence of the visit was to ascertain the levels of challenges facing the school and to see how to address them.
They stated that Bassey Otu's administration was committed to improving all sectors of the State including education and assured that College of Education Akamkpa would be fully functional soon.
The Provost of the College ,Dr. James Achibong thanked the Committee for the visit which he said is timely and informed them that, the college was established to offer NCE certificate to bridged the man power gaps in the state.
He disclosed that the school is currently experiencing decline in students enrollment because many colleges are now running dual mode which allows schools to offer NCE and Degree progammes simultaneously
He called on the Cross River State House of Assembly to amend a section of the Law establishing the college to enable the College offer both NCE and Degree programmes as it's done in other colleges.
He appealed to Government to put up perimeter fence around the College to stop encroachment into the school land.
Achibong called on the State Government to employ more staff and provide the school with vehicles for smooth running of the College.
The Committee also inspected TETFUND Projects situated in the school.
