LATEST TRANSFERS: CHELSEA, BAYER MUNICH SPLASH OVER £300M ON NEW PLAYERS

Chelsea’s summer transfer drive continues to gather momentum, with the club reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms with RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

The highly-rated 22-year-old Dutch midfielder is expected to make the move to Stamford Bridge for a fee in the region of £70m.

Simons brings a dynamic presence to the squad, known for his versatility across attacking roles. He has excelled as an attacking midfielder, operated on the left flank, and even supported forward play as a secondary striker.

His flexibility is seen as a crucial asset by Chelsea’s management, who are focused on adding creativity and depth ahead of the new season.

The West London club has already made several big-money signings this summer. Liam Delap joined from Ipswich Town in a £30 million deal, Joao Pedro arrived from Brighton for £60 million, and Jamie Gittens made the switch from Borussia Dortmund for £51.5m.

These additions reflect Chelsea’s determination to build a squad capable of challenging both domestically and in Europe.

 _Chelsea Signs Jorrel Hato_

In addition to Simons, Chelsea have sealed the signing of Jorrel Hato from Ajax for €50 million, with the deal now considered “done and confirmed. Nicolo Schira reported early on Tuesday morning, according to a report from Footballtransfers.

The 19-year-old Dutch defender has agreed a long-term contract that runs until 2033, and an official club announcement is expected imminently.

Chelsea had been tracking Hato since May, and talks accelerated over the past week. A previous €40m bid was rejected, but negotiations remained positive, culminating in Ajax accepting a €50m offer. Hato’s Expected Transfer Value (ETV) sits at €46.2m, placing the final fee well within market expectations.

Chelsea’s ambitious recruitment strategy aligns with the club’s desire to return to the top of English football and make a deep run in the Champions League. Following their recent Club World Cup triumph, the Blues are eager to capitalize on that momentum by assembling a team stacked with young, elite talent.

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that the deal reached its final stages on Monday, with both clubs pushing to wrap up the agreement. Notably, Hato was left out of Ajax’s squad for the Como Cup final on Sunday, a 3-0 loss, after reportedly asking to be excluded to avoid injury before the move.

Highly rated for his maturity and tactical awareness, Hato enjoyed a standout season under Ajax manager Francesco Farioli. Though primarily a left-back, he is also capable of playing as a central defender — a trait that undoubtedly appealed to new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who values versatility and ball-playing defenders.

_Sunderland Set To Sign Chelsea Guiu_

Premier League newcomers Sunderland have opened talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for striker Marc Guiu, football.london understands.

The Black Cats are looking to bolster their attack following promotion back to the Premier League and have identified Guiu as a potential solution ahead of the new campaign. Ipswich Town have also enquired about the Spanish striker, but Sunderland are the club in talks at the time of writing.

The 19-year-old striker featured just 16 times for the Blues in all competitions after being signed from Barcelona the summer before for around £5million. Guiu was a back-up option throughout the season for Chelsea, except in the Conference League where the Spaniard scored six goals for the west Londoners in the league phase of the competition.

A hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers at Stamford Bridge will be – to date – the highlight of his time at Chelsea thus far. Signing a five-year deal with the west Londoners just over 12 months ago, football.london understands the club still have a big belief in Guiu and his talents but they think sending him out on loan to get regular senior minutes will be beneficial for his development in the long run.

Joao Pedro and Liam Delap – who cost a combined £90million – have both arrived this summer from Brighton and Ipswich, respectively, and have leapfrogged Guiu in the No.9 pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Joao Pedro shone for the Blues in the latter stages of the FIFA Club World Cup after signing for a deal that could eventually be worth £60million, while Delap showed glimpses of his talent in the United States.

Chelsea have no plans to sell Nicolas Jackson, despite constant rumours regarding the Senegal striker’s future at Stamford Bridge. The Blues want to go into the 2025/26 season – that gets under way in just over a fortnight – with two out-and-out No.9s and a versatile forward who can cover multiple positions in the final third, football.london understands, and with Joao Pedro, Jackson and Delap, the club have just that.

Unfortunately for Guiu, he does not fit into that plan, although that is not to say he will not in the future. Sunderland have been busy this summer following their promotion to the Premier League, with seven incomings already at the Stadium of Light, including former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, whose move was made official earlier this week.

If Chelsea were to offload Guiu, then the Spaniard would become the Blues’ 10th outgoing this summer.

Mike Penders is the only other player to have left on loan thus far, with the likes of Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Djordje Petrovic, Mathis Amougou, Bashir Humphreys, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Kepa Arrizabala8ga and Marcus Bettinelli all exiting permanently.

 _Bayern Munich Seales Diaz_

Bayern Munich have sealed a major deal of their own. Here's the latest on three key transfers shaking up the summer window.

Bayern Munich have reached a full agreement with Liverpool to sign Colombian winger Luis Diaz in a €75 million (£65 million) deal. The 28-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract after completing his medical in Germany next week.

Diaz leaves Liverpool after 98 appearances and will now join Vincent Kompany’s rebuild at Bayern.

_Wolves, West Ham Eyes Chelsea Broja_

Chelsea have placed a £25 million asking price on striker Armando Broja as they look to offload the Albanian international this summer, according to a report from The Athletic.

The 23-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge appears uncertain following an underwhelming loan spell at Everton during the 2024/25 season.

Broja joined Everton in January with hopes of rejuvenating his career, but injuries and lack of form prevented him from making any significant impact. He managed just 10 Premier League appearances and failed to register a goal or assist, further denting his standing within Chelsea’s long-term plans.

Having returned from his loan, Chelsea are keen to sell the striker as part of their broader squad reshaping strategy. Under new manager Enzo Maresca, the Blues have been active in the transfer market, focusing on young talents and financial efficiency to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The sale of Broja, a homegrown product, would represent pure profit on the balance sheet—an added incentive to cash in now.

Despite his recent struggles, Broja remains an intriguing option for several Premier League and European clubs.

Teams such as West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and AC Milan have been linked in the past, and may return for the striker if Chelsea show flexibility in their valuation or structure of a deal.

Broja’s potential departure comes after what has been a frustrating few years since he broke through with an impressive loan spell at Southampton in 2021/22. During that season, he scored six league goals and looked poised to become a regular in Chelsea’s rotation. However, recurring injuries, fierce competition, and inconsistency have since hindered his development.

Chelsea’s current attacking setup, which includes Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, and the recently acquired Jorrel Hato (a defensive addition), leaves little room for Broja. With the club aiming to trim their wage bill and make room for new arrivals, offloading fringe players like Broja is seen as a necessary step.

While Chelsea are hoping to recoup £25 million, there’s a chance that negotiations with interested clubs could lead to a reduced fee or a loan-to-buy structure. Either way, Broja’s time at Stamford Bridge appears to be nearing its end as the Blues prepare for a new era under Maresca.

_Chelsea Offers Marc Cucurella New Deal_

According to a report from BBC Sports on 30th July, 2025, Chelsea has reportedly offered Marc Cucurella, their key player and in the left back position a new deal even though he has 3 years left in his previous contract with the West London side.

BBC football Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed this during his recent sports discussions last night.

Marc Cucurella has been a great defender at Stamford Bridge. Although, he struggled to blend with the team's pattern of play during his early days at Stamford Bridge after completing a move from Brighton. But the Spanish footballer has now become Enzo Maresca's regular feature in virtually all games and always contributes to Chelsea's remarkable victories.
