The Cross River State Government has announced the completion of a new Medical Oxygen Plant at the Comprehensive Healthcare Centre (CHC), Ikom, describing the project as another major healthcare stride of the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, disclosed this on Friday after inspecting the facility, stating that the oxygen plant had been fully completed, installed, and was ready for commissioning and use.
According to Ayuk, the facility is expected to significantly address the growing medical oxygen demand, particularly within the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State.
“I have just inspected yet another enduring project of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu, the newly completed Medical Oxygen Plant at the Comprehensive Healthcare Centre (CHC), Ikom,” the commissioner stated.
He explained that the oxygen plant was built in collaboration with The Global Fund and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), commending both organisations for their continued support towards strengthening the healthcare system in Cross River State.
Ayuk noted that the partnership reflects the importance of collaboration in expanding access to quality healthcare services and improving critical care infrastructure across the state.
He added that the project highlights the administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through strategic investments aimed at improving emergency and critical care services across the state.
The commissioner further noted that the oxygen plant would enhance the capacity of health facilities to respond effectively to medical emergencies requiring oxygen support, while reducing dependence on external supply sources.
