Arsenal End 22-Year Wait for Premier League Title After Man City Slip at Bournemouth

Arsenal FC have ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title after Manchester City FC were held to a dramatic draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
The result on the south coast confirmed Arsenal as champions of England for the first time since their historic “Invincibles” triumph in 2004, as Mikel Arteta’s side moved four points clear of Manchester City with only one round of fixtures remaining in the 2025/2026 season.
Arsenal’s title victory marks the end of more than two decades of heartbreak, near misses and rebuilding at the North London club, with supporters finally witnessing the return of the Premier League trophy after 22 years.
The Gunners are now expected to celebrate their triumph in style during their final league fixture against Crystal Palace FC at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Tuesday’s encounter had been overshadowed by intense speculation surrounding the future of City manager Pep Guardiola, with reports suggesting the Spaniard could step down at the end of the season in what may become his penultimate game in charge of the reigning champions.
Speaking before kickoff, Guardiola dismissed claims that uncertainty over his future had affected preparations, insisting the speculation had “absolutely zero” impact on his team.
However, Manchester City struggled against a spirited Bournemouth side that matched them in intensity and determination throughout the contest.
Teenage sensation Junior Kroupi sent the home crowd into celebration after curling home a brilliant strike six minutes before halftime to give Bournemouth the lead.
The hosts remained resolute after the break, with goalkeeper Djordje Petrović making a crucial save to deny City youngster Nico O’Reilly.
Although prolific striker Erling Haaland rescued a late equaliser for Manchester City, Bournemouth held on to extend their unbeaten run to 17 matches.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, who has already announced he will leave at the end of the season, was applauded by fans after leading the Cherries to qualification for European football next season.
