Nigeria's World Cup Hopes Suffer Setback as South Africa, Benin Republic Secure Wins

Nigeria's World Cup qualification hopes have suffered a significant setback after South Africa and Benin Republic secured crucial wins on Friday, widening the gap in Group C. 

South Africa defeated Lesotho 3-0, boosting their points to 13, while Benin Republic edged Zimbabwe 1-0, taking their tally to 8 points. Nigeria currently has 7 points, remaining third in the group.

Nigeria faces Rwanda at the Victor Attah International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday in a make or mar match that that will need Nigeria to get a crucial 3 points.

The Super Eagles will then travel to South Africa for a potentially decisive match against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

South Africa has 13 points, Rwanda has 8 points, Benin 8 points, Nigeria 7 points

As it stands, Nigeria needs to win both upcoming matches to stay in contention for World Cup qualification.
