Silverbird Honour Is a Call to Greater Service, Says Governor Otu
Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu has said that being named Silverbird’s ‘Man of the Year’ is not just an honour, but a call to serve the people of Cross River State with even greater commitment.
He dedicated the award to the hardworking and resilient citizens of the state.
Speaking during the award ceremony at Eko Hotel and Suites, the governor expressed deep appreciation to the Silverbird Group. He expressed profound joy and humility over the honor, emphasizing that an award from a reputable media body holds special importance for him.
He, however, made it clear that he does not see it as a personal achievement.
According to him, the honour reflects the collective efforts, sacrifices, and steady support of Cross Riverians.
He emphasized that their strength and determination continue to inspire his administration’s work.
The governor, who attended the event alongside members of his cabinet, lawmakers, local government chairmen, and other officials, praised his team for their dedication and contribution to the state’s progress.
He also admitted that national recognition brings greater responsibility. With increased public attention, he said, comes a stronger obligation to deliver meaningful results. The award, he added, serves as motivation to push further.
Restating his administration’s ‘People First’ agenda and the ‘Season of Sweetness’ vision, Governor Otu highlighted ongoing efforts to position Cross River as a competitive economy.
He maintained that the state remains one of Nigeria’s top destinations for investment and tourism, promising to sustain this progress in line with the federal government’s ‘Renewed Hope’ drive.
The governor appreciated Silverbird Group Chairman, Ben Murray-Bruce, assuring that Cross River will continue striving for excellence and national development.
