Right Activist, Ibor, Hails NBA 66th Annual Conference, Advocates Justice Beyond Limits For Every Child

Principal Counsel, Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, Mr. James Ibor, has hailed the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for a successful 66th Annual General Conference, advocating justice beyond limits for every child.

The 66th Annual General Conference scheduled to hold from 21st to 28th, August 2026, at the 

Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekehia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Conference featured keynote address delivered by His Excellency, George Weah, former President of Liberia, alongside a distinguished lineup of speakers and participants from across the legal profession and beyond.

The theme of the Conference was “Beyond Limits,” brought together distinguished jurists, thought leaders, policymakers, and industry experts who engaged in strategic discourse on critical national and global issues, including economic growth; industry and trade development, foreign exchange regulation, legal sector advancement, and global competitiveness.

Participants benefited from sessions addressing contemporary and diverse social justice issues, as well as enjoy robust professional networking opportunities, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. We also have a carefully curated program for entertainment and interactive engagements.

Ibor, was the immediate past chairperson, Child Protection Network, Cross River State, and a PDP candidate for Yakurr I State House of Assembly election in 2027. The renowned Child Right activist, hails from Ekori in Yakur local government of the state.

At the 2026 NBA Conference, he delivered a paper on "Justice Beyond Limits: For Every Child, Justice," with a focus on advancing early legal assistance, diversion, reintegration, and system reform to strengthen access to child friendly justice in Nigeria.

The Child Right advocate, who served as a Strategic Intervene at the conference, used the opportunity to promote and advance the rights of children, commending lawyers for their contributions to ensuring that every child has access to justice, protection, and a fair chance at rehabilitation and reintegration.

Ibor’s paper contributed to institutional perspective and expertise in discussing and contributing to the practical commitments required to advance child friendly justice in Nigeria.

According to him, every child has a right to justice, and that right should not depend on income, location, or chance. Yet, for many children who come into contact with the justice system, access to timely legal assistance, diversion, protection from detention, rehabilitation, and reintegration remains a challenge.
