NPFL Fines Rangers ₦4M, Orders Closed Door Matches Over Breaches
By Akpo Esco
The Nigeria Premier Football League has fined Enugu Rangers ₦4 million for several breaches during their recent match against Barau FC.
In its ruling, the NPFL said Rangers failed to provide adequate security at the venue. The failure allowed unauthorized persons into restricted areas and raised concerns about matchday safety.
The league also cited the conduct of club officials, saying their actions brought the game into disrepute while also holding the club responsible for supporters who harassed match officials.
The sanctions break down into four ₦1 million fines: inadequate security, encroachment onto the field of play, unsporting conduct by club officials, and failure to control fans.
In addition to the fines, Rangers must play their next two home matches behind closed doors to prevent a repeat of the incidents.
The eight-time champions have 48 hours from notification to appeal the decision.
