Release : "Stop Compilations of Chairmanship, Councillorship Candidates For Purpose of Adoption, APC
The attention of the party has been drawn to a widespread complaint of unauthorized compilation of names by some persons for the purpose of adopting them as councillorship and chairmanship candidates of our great party All Progressives Congress ( APC).
It is important to state that neither the Governor nor the State Chairman of the party / State Executive Committee of the party has authorized such compilation.
We want to once again reiterate that only the leadership of the party at the state under the canopy of State Executive Committee (SEC) has the sole mandate on issues of nomination and sponsorship of candidates under the Cross River State Local Government Law and Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) Law and relevant guidelines made pursuant to that.
While the party will carry out this sacred and sensitive task in conjunction with relevant organs and caucuses of the party as provided under the APC constitution, it is important to reiterate once again that no party member whether ELECTED or APPOINTED is authorized to convene any meeting nor collate any name of aspirant for this purpose.
The State Executive Committee is working closely with the Governor who is the overall leader of the party on the release of guidelines and timetable for the Primaries of our party.
For the purpose of ensuring transparency, fairness and level playing field for all aspirants, all State Executive Committee members who are caucus leaders at the Senatorial level and Chapter chairmen who are caucus leaders in the respective Local Government Areas and whom have since resigned are to handover to their deputies immediately.
It should be noted that the name of any aspirant purported to be collated by anyone is illegal, unlawful, null, void and of no consequences to the party as the due process for nomination will be followed for the building of genuine consensus through the various ward Congress, LGA Caucus, State Elders Advisory Council meeting and State Caucus where the Governor will guide the final process in conjunction with the leadership of the party.
Anyone found flouting this directives of the party will be accordingly dealth with in line with the disciplinary provision and procedures contained in Article 21of the APC constitution as amended in 2022.
Once again, we enjoin all aspirants to ensure that their documents and financial obligations to the party and CROSIEC are intact to ensure speedy response and compliance as soon as the guidelines and party timetable for Primaries is released.
The political temperature must not be allowed to rise unnecessary.
Any elected official or appointee of Government calling meeting of any sort or collating names of aspirants is once again advised to desist from doing so pls.
