NYSC Commends Ebonyi Governor for Healthcare Improvements

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended the dedication of the current Governor of Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria, Francis Nwifuru, for his efforts in ensuring that healthcare delivery across the state is available, accessible, and affordable.

This commendation follows the Governor’s recent approval for the construction of a new camp clinic.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Oladeinde Foluke, expressed this appreciation during his address at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream ‘1’ corps members, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old MacGregor College, Afikpo, in Afikpo Local Government Area of the state.

Mrs Oladeinde announced that a total of 1,172 corps members were sworn in, comprising 548 males and 624 females.

She extended gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the ceremony, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Richard Idike, security agencies, heads of various security outfits, and the host community of Afikpo.

“In this regard, we would like to specifically thank His Excellency for the following key achievements:

“Approval for the construction of a new camp clinic to improve the healthcare services and medical facilities available to Corps Members at the camp.

“Approval for the construction of a new female hostel, which will provide a more comfortable and secured accommodation for our female Corps Members.

“Approval for the construction of additional hostel for the female staff to enhance their comfortability while on camp.

“I wish at this point to graciously thank the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Ebonyi State chapter under the leadership of Honourable Barrister Chinedu Uburu for the installation of a new transformer, which will ensure a more stable and reliable power supply at the camp, contributing to conducive environment for learning and other activities,” Oladeinde added.

She also appealed for the perimeter fencing of the camp to enhance security.

Representing Governor Francis Nwifuru, the Permanent Secretary of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Youths and Sports, Hilary Ogbonna, assured corps members of adequate welfare and security during their service to the nation in the state
