Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu has commended the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), for its enormous contributions to the state and society.
Otu who spoke while hosting a seven-man delegation from BCS in Calabar, Thursday, said the religious organisation, through its programmes has continued to attract visitors from across the world into the state.
"Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has contributed to the growth of Cross River State immensely. As government, we appreciate its contribution in education, spiritual empowerment and tourism potentials.
"We have tourists across the globe who visit Calabar at regular intervals for pilgrimage and spiritual satisfaction and these have continued to boost our name internationally," Otu said.
The governor further charged BCS not to rest in its oars to propagate the word of God, while encouraging the believers to hearken to godly precepts and never depart from the path of truth, justice and fairness.
"I believe that any society that does not have spiritual diversity will have no direction. As you continue to evangelize, I believe our people will continue to change for good," the governor remarked.
Assuring the organisation's spiritual father, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, of his administration's readiness to partner with BCS, the governor also called for prayers for the people of the state, nation and the world at large in view of the challenging times.
On the delegation's request on land claims, Otu sought for patience, assuring them that justice, hitherto denied, will prevail in due course.
Earlier, Leader of the delegation, Senator Biobarakuma Deji, appealed for intervention on the Akpet-Ugbem-Etono road, to create unfettered access for both local and foreign tourists to Biakpan Holy City in Biase local government area.
Deji also solicited for support on the 36 hectares proposed mega city in Adiabo, Odukpani local government area, a project, he remarked, is aimed at boosting the spiritual and economic values of the state and its inhabitants.
