Information Commissioner Assures CRBC Of Modern Broadcast Equipment

Cross River State Commissioner for Information,Mr.Erasmus Ekpang has again restated the commitment of the State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey to Edet be Otu ,to provide top notch modern broadcast by equipment for the Radio and Television Services of the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation,Calabar to bring the Station up to current trends across all the world.
Mr. Ekpang stated this in Calabar during his maiden familiarization visit to CRBC,Calabar,adding that the Station remains a top priority for Government and urged the Management to work had to justify Government huge financial commitment to upgrade broadcast. equipment .
The Commissioner,who was accompanied by the State Director of Information,Mrs Anita Ekpenyong;Director of Archives and Documentation,Mr.Effiong Okon;Director of Orientation,Mr David Akate;Director of Audit,Mr.Jimmy be Enyia, amongst others,also assured Staff of regular training as well as improvement in their welfare and entire work environment.
Mr.Ekpang said"in the coming days,efforts shall be made to increase the Station's broadcast hours,"emphasizing that he would liaise closely with the Ministry of Local Government Affairs for the restoration of retainership for Local Government Councils in order to boost the revenue base of he the Corporation.
The General Manager of CRBC, Calabar,Mr Samuel Nsor congratulated Commissioner Ekpang on his appointment by Governor Otu,noting that since assuming office, critical steps have been taken to reposition the Station in the area of reach, capacity and programming .
Mr. Nsor raised the challenge of low funding,which he pointed out has hindered growth in the Corporation and informed that the radio Station is already on Radio Garden which has expanded the reach of the Station across the globe.
The Familiarization visit also took the Commissioner to the Ministry 's Technical Services Department, which also houses the South South Zonal Office of Voice of Nigeria and the Government Printing Press as well as the NO.55. Goldie Street Office Equipment/ Stores of the Ministry where Commissioner Ekpang promised to renovate the buildings and make the offices more conducive for work.
