The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu had directed the College of Health Technology, Calabar, to expand its curriculum of study to address challenges in universal health coverage as well as take advantage of opportunities in new funding windows for the college.
The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk during the first mass Convocation (2001-2023) of the College, held recently in Calabar, reminded the College authorities that the institution was established primarily to raise a suitable workforce for primary health care through training.
"The College must therefore review it's curriculum to ensure primary health care does not fail in achieving universal healthcare through a competent workforce for the State."
The Governor who is Visitor to the College assured governing council that his government will review the existing law establishing the college to improve funding opportunities and technical support from both local and international partners.
He congratulated the students who have waited all these years to be convocated and appealed to them to remain worthy in character and learning in their career life.
Speaking earlier, the Provost of the College, Dr. Janet Adah had specifically requested for laws establishing the school to attract funding and training support from TETFUND and other organisations
