Calabar Golf Club Elects New Leadership, Charts Path for Growth

THE Calabar Golf Club has ushered in a new chapter with the election of its new leadership, promising a revitalized focus on advancing the game of golf in Cross River State in 2025 and beyond.
Engr. Bassey Nkposong, elected as the new Captain of the club, has pledged to bring his vast experience and passion for the sport to reposition the club for greater success. In his acceptance speech, Nkposong outlined key priorities, including increasing corporate membership, strengthening collaboration with state sports authorities to popularize golf, attracting more players, and ensuring regular maintenance and upgrades of club facilities.
He expressed appreciation to the Cross River State Government for its recent support, which he described as vital to the club's growth, and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering inclusivity and excellence in the game.
The elections, held during the club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its premises, also saw the selection of other key officers. Barrister Anietie Okon was elected Vice Captain, while Dr. Aye Henshaw, mni, retained his position as Secretary. Other officials include Mr. Eric Okechi as Treasurer, Mr. Sam Kalio as Course Officer, Mr. Fidel Udie as Competition/Handicap Secretary, Mr. Jesam Iwara as House/Social Officer, and Ms. Gladness Dan as Bar Secretary.
During the swearing-in ceremony, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and former Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Barrister Effiok Cobham, charged the newly elected officials to work as a team, emphasizing that collaboration and unity would be critical to achieving their ambitious goals.
Established in 1991, the Calabar Golf Club remains the sole golf facility in the state. With this fresh leadership, the club is poised to become a hub for golf enthusiasts and a driving force for the sport's development in Cross River State.
