A’Ibom AG GIVES BACK TO HIS ALMA MATER

AKWA Ibom state Accountant General/Permanent Secretary, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, has renovated and equipped the dilapidated library building in Community Commercial Secondary School, Ikot Akpan Ishiet, Onna local government area.

The donation of books/ handing over of renovated library took place today at the school, had in attendance management and staff of the school, community leaders and students.

The renovation is part of the efforts to revive the culture of reading among school children, and as well as compliment the state government’s Arise Agenda in educational development.

 Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien,  accompanied by his wife, in his speech, appreciating the management of the school, especially the School’s Principal, Mrs. Idongesit Etuk, for her support that saw to the execution and completion of the renovation and subsequent donation of books to the school’s library.

He said: "I was spurred to embark on the project when he realized the need to invest in education, and after careful assessment of the library which was dilapidated, I had no option than to undertook the renovation of the library.

"I can tell you that reading is an inevitable tool that can unlock one’s potential. I admonish the students to utilise the opportunity by cultivating a reading habit and being committed to their studies so as to enable them becoming great leaders in the future."

In her remarks, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Etuk, expressed happiness and commended the State’s Accountant General's magnanimity in revitalizing the school’s library, promising that the management would ensure the books are maintained and kept in good conditions at all time.

She tasked the students to make good use of the benevolence accorded them by the Accountant General.
