C' River Govt Hands Over 31 Hectares of Land To Firm For FG Women's Housing Scheme

CROSS River state government has officially handed over 31 hectares of land to Family Home Funds for construction of women's housing scheme.

The housing scheme is a federal government initiative known as National Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy (NPRGS) aimed at empowering the widows and the vulnerable women women in Cross River State.

The firm is expected to build 70 units of two bedrooms apartment and to be completed by March 2025.

The handing over ceremony of the land at Adiabo to Family Home Funds, was witnessed by the Special Adviser to the Governor, Department of Social Housing, Dr Prince Ekanem Ekpo, Comm, Housing, Dr Beatrice Igwe, with the representative of Family Home Funds, Mr Kerry, the Surveyor General of the State, the Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing.

Speaking shortly after the hand over, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Department of Social Housing, Dr Prince Ekanem Ekpo, commended President Bola Tinubu for the bold initiative and his commitment to transform the lives of rural women.

Ekpo alao commended Governor Bassey Otu for proving the land and ensuring that all bottlenecks are removed to ensure smoother operations by the firm.

The Special Adviser called on the youths to support the project and be prepared to own up the project as most of them will be train led on the latest building technology.

The team later paid courtesy calls on the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Otu V.
