There is palpable fear in Ekeremor Local Government Area following the resurgence of sea-pirate activities led by a former militant leader (names withheld).

The gang, sources said have laid siege to the waterways maiming and killing their victims after carting away their belongings with a display of sporadic gun shooting of various assorted heavy military weapon.

Investigations revealed that panic has gripped the residents of Bilabiri 1& 2 communities in Ekeremor Local Government Area where the notorious kingpin and his boys mostly carried out their nefarious activities.

Findings indicated that people in the two communities practically live in fear because of the wanton killings, and intimidation going on in the two communities with security agencies feigning ignorance.

A community in the affected area, Lucky Tubotu of Bilabiri 1&2 who decried the activities of the sea pirates called on the Inspector-General of Police, Bayelsa state governor Chief Douye Diri, and commissioner of police of the state as well as the army and other security agencies to come to the aid of the communities to comb for the dreaded sea-pirate leader and his boys.

”The Bilabiri 1& 2 communities are mostly affected and are living under the fear of terror occasioned by the senseless sea robbery, killing, and intimidation going on in the community.

“This is a “Save Our Soul” message to the relevant authorities such as President Bola Tinubu, Governor Duoye Diri, JTF Command, and the Police. If this killing continues, then the people may be forced to take up arms to fight for their redemption.

‘’ Security agencies should declare these known culprits wanted for murder. They are into sea piracy and possession of illegal arms. Bilabiri 1 & 2 communities have been turned into a theatre of war where killing takes place without question,’’ he said.

Tubotu further disclosed that one Frank Siede was killed by the gang at the Bilabiri jetty, and vowed that the community would not allow a criminal gang to take over their ancestral patrimony. killing takes place without question,’’ he said.
