OPINION: The Fear Of CROSIEC

By Egbe MATHEW

With utmost humility, I want to draw the attention of the general public to the fact that the Cross River State Independent Electorial Commission (CROSIEC) have just displayed a seeming sign of unreadiness, confusion and above all ineptitude. Their action today within less that 1hour is laughable. Infact, they are not fully ready, and untill otherwise, they should withdraw their publications and go back and put themselves in order.

How can a body saddled with the responsibility of conducting a *free* and *fair* election into the local government councils tell the world publicly that they are being pushed around. Who in the first place asked you to wait for him or her to see what you want to publish as timetable for the election that you did not wait for that later told you to revoke the earlier publication of election slated for November 23rd as contained in pages 52 and 53 of the electoral guidelines for the said election that was not even signed?

Between the chairman and secretary please, whose fault was it to publish the wrong document?

Truth be told, this is a clear indications that the supposed unbiased umpire you are meant to be has been jettisoned. Who told you that you have the moral capacity and justification to conduct a free and fair election with such act.

If a two page document could easily be reduced to a page within dew minutes, then what are figures to manipulate?

I want to crave your indulgence and to humbly appeal that you find a way to reorganize yourself and come out clean if not whatever result you will publish after the election will be crowded with suspicion. And the general public is hereby put on notice not to believe the process they have promised because they (CROSIEC) have just shown their nature like the mother body INEC and as such should not expect something different.

CROSIEC should therefore with humility return the calendar back to what was initially published in other to believe their proposed process.
