2027: Northern Politicians Gang Up Against Tinubu's Presidency, Plan Alternative Party

...We Would Square Them Up, Southern Group

From Abdul SULE (Abuja)

There are strong indications that the Northern Oligarchy and some powerful politicians have commenced moves to float a new political party to wrestle power from Tinubu's Presidency in 2027.

An indication to this emerged recently following a revelation by a stalwart of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Director of Media for the Atiku The Light Organisation, Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar, that fresh national party is in the offing.

According to Abubakar's verified X account (formerly Twitter), discussions and plans to launch a new political party are currently underway in the northern region.

Recall that the Northern Oligarchy have been uncomfortable with Tinubu's Presidency alleging marginalisation in key positions and appointments.

Sources close to some of the northern politicians are piqued that Tinubu at some economic and political reforms he has embarked on which have alienated most of them from power, which they enjoyed unhindered in Buhari's eight years in office.

They accuse Tinubu of reserving juicy positions for his kinsmen and women just as he his forex policy has pushed a good number of northern dealers that had controlled one hundred percent, out of business.

Against this background, they have started mobilising and sensitising there people to brace up for 2027 general elections.

And to do this, they have set up a think committee, made up of politicians, professionals and traditional leaders across party and religious lines, to come up a national party that they can use to get back power to the north in 2027 as they no longer trust Tinubu.

In a swift reaction, The Southern Renaissance Movement (TSORM) has fired back at the Northern politicians, saying Tinubu must finish his eight years unhindered just as Buhari had his own turn.

The Acting National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Okoh, said never in the history of this country would they sit back and see another President of southern extraction being messed up in office as they did to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Okoh said it has become a norm for Northerners to raise eye-brows anytime they kinsman is not on the driving seat in Aso Rock as they did to Obasanjo and Jonathan's administrations.

According to him, Buhari laid the foundation for skewed politics appointments as he populated his administration with Northern Fulanis and even when Nigerians kicked, he kept mute.

"Under President Mohammad Buhari eight years, no Easterner was given any sensitive appointment in the nation's security circle. All key positions in were given to the north. Juicy contracts were given the the north. The South, especially South-East shouted on top of their voices, nobody listened to their clamourings.

"Today, the table has turned in opposite direction and the north is crying wolf. They should learn to share power with other ethnic nationalities that make up the federation. This country belongs to all of us. Tinubu will finish his eight years, we can assure Nigerians.

"At this point of our national development and because of our peculiar situation, the Presidency must rotate among the six geo-political zones for now. Rotation is the same as federal character. So, they should wait for other zones to have a taste of Aso Rock. The agitation for return of power to north is too early in the day."
