Mourinho Threatens Benfica Exit Over Alleged One-Sided FIFA Sanctions

By Akpo ESCO

José Mourinho is reportedly ready to part ways with Benfica if FIFA disciplines only Gianluca Prestianni without taking action against Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.

The Portuguese manager has made it clear that he would not accept what he sees as selective punishment. According to reports, Mourinho is prepared to resign from his position and could even pursue legal action against UEFA if sanctions are imposed on Prestianni alone.

Benfica have officially called on FIFA to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The club alleges that Mbappé, the Real Madrid forward, used racist and offensive language toward Prestianni, with lip-reading footage currently being reviewed as part of the process.

The Portuguese side insists on what it describes as equal and fair treatment. Club officials argue that if Prestianni faces a heavy penalty, then Vinícius should also be sanctioned for allegedly calling him “Mono,” while Mbappé should answer for reportedly directing a homophobic slur at the young player.

With emotions running high, the situation has escalated significantly as all parties await FIFA’s decision.
