2027: Bakor Nation Backs Jarigbe, Otu, Tinubu for Second Term

The Bakor Political Forum, in collaboration with the Bakor Nation, has endorsed the re election bids of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Governor Bassey Edet Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced at a well attended gathering that brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, party stakeholders and representatives of Bakor communities.

Members of the Bakor Traditional Rulers Council, led by its chairman, His Royal Majesty Ntol Julius Ayate, joined other stakeholders at the event, which featured cultural displays, performances and goodwill messages in honour of the leaders.

Participants also reviewed governance under the three leaders and expressed satisfaction with what they described as ongoing development efforts at the national, state and senatorial levels.

Presenting a communiqué on behalf of the forum, Vice Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Hon. Mary Itoro, said the Bakor Nation unanimously adopted the trio as their preferred candidates for the 2027 elections.

The motion for their endorsement was moved by Rt. Hon. Gabriel Edi, seconded by Rt. Hon. Paddy Uguge and affirmed through a voice vote.

On Senator Jarigbe, the forum commended his representation of the Cross River North Senatorial District, citing constituency projects and legislative efforts across the area. The group expressed confidence that a renewed mandate would enable him to deliver more dividends of democracy.

The Bakor Nation also praised Governor Otu’s leadership style, describing it as inclusive and people centred. The forum noted that his administration has demonstrated commitment to grassroots development and therefore deserves a second term.

Similarly, the group endorsed President Tinubu, acknowledging his economic reforms and efforts aimed at repositioning the country. They expressed optimism that continuity would strengthen governance and national development.

The Bakor Nation pledged its total support for the three leaders and reaffirmed its commitment to unity and progress in Nigeria.

The event attracted several prominent stakeholders from the Bakor extraction, including Rt. Hon. Peter Igbodor, Chief Igbe Aruku, High Chief Timmy Tom, Hon. Chief Rita Agbo Ayim, Chief Austin Edibe, Hon. Thomas Aruku, Hon. Paddy Egbede and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the area.
