Infrastructure: FG, NDDC Agree Funding Structure For Ikom-Etomi Road

The Federal Government and Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) have finally agreed on a new funding structure for the long abandoned Ikom-Etomi-Agbokim Waterfalls Road in Cross River State.

The agreement was reached at a meeting held on September 16, 2026, involving the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Federal Ministry of Finance, the Director of Cash Management, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Commission’s Director of Finance and Accounts, and Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh.

The development followed an earlier engagement between Senator Enoh and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, focused on resolving the funding challenge affecting the existing NDDC contract for the road.

Under the agreed arrangement, funding implementation will commence in September 2026 and run through December 2026, paving the way for accelerated completion of the project.

Senator Enoh said he will continue to track the release of funds and the return of the contractor to site as soon as weather conditions permit.

The project is expected to improve connectivity and stimulate economic and tourism activities across Ikom, Etomi and the Agbokim Waterfalls corridor.
