The Cross River Rediscovered Team has inducted the Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, into its Board of Trustees (BOT), describing him as a committed public servant whose contributions to accountability, transparency and responsible asset management have strengthened governance in Cross River State.

The induction took place on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to Agbor’s residence in Calabar, where the leadership of the movement reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and individuals driving the development vision of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s administration.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Director-General of the Cross River Rediscovered Team, Barr. Paul Ishabor, said the decision to admit Agbor into the Board of Trustees was informed by his integrity, professional competence and unwavering dedication to public service.

He described the Special Adviser as a principled legal practitioner whose stewardship in asset management and recovery has improved institutional accountability, strengthened record-keeping systems and safeguarded public assets for the benefit of Cross Riverians.

According to Ishabor, Agbor’s track record aligns with the vision of the movement, which seeks to identify, celebrate and collaborate with individuals contributing meaningfully to the progress and transformation of the state.

He maintained that Cross River Rediscovered remains committed to promoting responsible leadership, good governance and citizen engagement in support of the People First agenda of the Otu administration.

Responding to the honour, Agbor expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the movement, describing his induction into the Board of Trustees as a call to greater responsibility in the collective effort to advance the development of Cross River State.

The Special Adviser used the occasion to commend Governor Otu’s leadership style, asserting that the administration has remained focused on delivering measurable results rather than engaging in excessive publicity.

According to him, significant investments in roads, community lighting projects and other critical infrastructure have continued to transform communities across the state, even where such achievements have not been accompanied by elaborate commissioning ceremonies or media fanfare.

“Governor Otu’s administration is focused on service and results, not media frenzy. Across the state, roads have been constructed, communities have been illuminated and critical projects have been completed without fanfare. This demonstrates a government that is genuinely committed to improving the lives of its people and allows its achievements to speak louder than publicity,” Agbor stated.

He argued that many critics of the administration have chosen to ignore the visible gains recorded across sectors, insisting that much of the opposition to government policies stems from prejudice and political resentment rather than an objective assessment of facts on the ground.

Agbor advised those who criticize the administration to undertake proper background checks and acquaint themselves with the realities surrounding government policies, programmes and achievements before embarking on what he described as vindictive campaigns against the government.

While acknowledging that constructive criticism remains an important pillar of democratic governance, he stressed that such criticism must be informed, fair and driven by a genuine desire to advance the public interest rather than personal bitterness or partisan considerations.

He further commended the Wife of the Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, for complementing the administration’s development efforts through humanitarian interventions and empowerment programmes that have positively impacted women, vulnerable groups and families across the state.

The Special Adviser also charged political appointees and public office holders to remain effective ambassadors of the administration by maintaining close engagement with citizens, communicating government policies effectively and projecting the achievements of government at every opportunity.

Agbor reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of accountability, prudent asset management and responsible governance, pledging to continue working with stakeholders and development-oriented groups to promote sustainable growth and protect public assets for future generations.
