C'River: PDP Caretaker Committee Holds Inaugural Meeting in Calabar, Vows Party Rebirth

By Missang AKPET

The newly inaugurated caretaker committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has held its inaugural meeting, marking a new chapter in the party's history.

The meeting which held at the Metropolitan Hotel Calabar had Party leaders and stakeholders from the 18 local government areas of the state in attendance.

Recall that on October 30, the National Working Committee of the PDP in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunaba approved an 18 man interim caretaker committee to head the party in the state.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting, the Chairman of the caretaker committee Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa emphasized the need for renewal, reconciliation, and recommitment to the party's ideals.

He noted that the party had been divided by personal interests and narrow leadership struggles, leading to losses in membership, elections, and grassroots support.

The chairman pledged to rebuild the party, promoting trust, fairness, and inclusiveness while emphasizing that democracy begins internally and the PDP would be guided by openness, justice, and collective decision-making.

He however appealed for cooperation, urging members to work together to reclaim the state and offer an alternative to the current administration.
