BREAKING: Gov Otu Intervenes in APC Leadership Crisis, Convenes Emergency Meeting With Warring Factions Today
By Judex OKORO
Crisis rocking the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State may soon be resolved as Governor Bassey Otu has waded into the matter, calling for a ceasefire between the warring factions, THE BEAGLE NEWS can authoritatively report.
A source at Government House, Calabar, confided in THE BEAGLE NEWS that Governor Otu, visibly concerned about the deepening tension within the party, has summoned an emergency peace meeting involving members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) and the Forum of Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries.
According to the source, the meeting is scheduled to hold today, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Calabar.
“The governor wants all parties to lay their grievances on the table and explore genuine avenues for reconciliation. His Excellency believes the unity of the APC is paramount to sustaining stability and good governance in the state,” the source disclosed.
The intervention follows days of heightened tension after the Forum of Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries demanded the resignation of the party’s state chairman over alleged internal irregularities.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Forum reportedly stormed the APC State Secretariat, barricading the entrance and preventing staff and party officials from carrying out their duties as part of their protest to press home their demands.
Governor Otu’s swift intervention is seen by observers as a decisive move to restore calm, reconcile aggrieved members, and reposition the party ahead of future political activities.
