APC Suspends Chairman of Ikom Local Government Council For 6 Months Over ‘Gross Misconduct’ ... "Suspension Illegal", Council Chair

The Ward Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olulumo Ward, has suspended the Chairman of Ikom Local Government, Hon. Pastor Mrs. Mercy Nsor, for six months over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
But on a swift reaction, the Council chairman, Hon. Pastor Mrs. Mercy Nsor dismissed the suspension as “illegal and done in bad faith,” describing it as one of those poorly executed political booby traps that were hatched for over a long time.
In a resolution issued after its meeting, the Ward EXCO said the action followed multiple petitions against Nsor and the report of a Fact-Finding/Disciplinary Committee set up to investigate the claims.
According to the resolution, the committee found Nsor culpable of “acts of misconduct in breach of Article 21 of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress.”
It added that she was accorded fair hearing in line with Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Ward EXCO adopted the committee’s findings and ruled that Nsor’s conduct amounted to gross misconduct, assault, anti-party activities, and actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
Citing Articles 21.1, 21.2 and 21.5 of the APC Constitution, the committee announced her suspension from the party for six months, effective April 17, 2026.
Following the suspension by Olulumo Ward, the Ikom chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also confirmed receipt of the suspension notice.
In a letter addressed to Nsor and signed by the chapter chairman, Hon. Matthew Egomo, the chapter confirmed that it had received communication from her ward executive committee, Olulumo Ward, confirming her suspension on grounds of gross misconduct, anti-party activities, and actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute.
“On this note, the chapter directs that you Hon. Pst. Mercy Nsor stay out of party activities until our investigation is concluded,” the letter stated.
Reacting to the development in an exclusive interview with THE BEAGLE NEWS, Hon. Pastor Mrs. Mercy Nsor dismissed the suspension as “illegal and done in bad faith,” describing it as one of those poorly executed political booby traps that were hatched for over a long time.
She disclosed that she had already registered her protest with the State Working Committee of the party who had promised to look into the matter.
“I can tell you that the suspension is being sponsored by those who have been against my administration".
“I have absolute confidence in the leadership of the party and will continue to work for everybody and for the betterment of our party as well as promote the People First Agenda of Governor Bassey Otu,” she stated.
